What You Will Not Find Here

Most stores describe what they sell. This page describes what we won't do to sell it.

None of this is new. It's how the store already runs — Made in the Open covers the blanks and the fabric; this page covers the rest.

No one who isn't real

No AI-generated people appear anywhere on this store. Every photo of a person you see is a photograph of a real person.

No stock photo stands in for a customer. We don't have testimonial photos staged to look like they came from someone who bought something here.

No ally merch

There's no separate line here aimed at people who want to show support from the outside. One catalogue. You're either in it or you're not shopping here.

No charity language

No percentage of your purchase goes anywhere but this business. No round-up at checkout, no donation partner, no cause printed on a shirt to move it. If that ever changes, it will show up here as a number — not as a sticker on a product photo.

No popups

Nothing covers the page asking for your email before you've read a word of it. Nothing chases you to the door when you try to leave, either.

No cart upsells

Your cart shows what you put in it. Nothing gets added, suggested, or bundled in on your way to checkout.

No fake urgency

No countdown timer. No "X people are viewing this." No stock counter ticking down. Everything here is made to order — there's no stock to run low on, so a low-stock warning would just be a lie.

No unverifiable claims

We don't call anything "sustainable," "vegan," "ethically made," or "zero waste." Those are words anyone can print for free, and we haven't done the work to back them up. What we can actually say about our blanks — by manufacturer, by model, in writing — lives on Made in the Open.

Why this page exists

Every item on this list costs nothing to fake. A popup, a countdown timer, a stock model captioned as a customer, a word like "sustainable" — any store can add these for free, today, with no catalogue behind them.

We'd rather you knew what you're not getting than assume you already did.
